    WWE STARRCADE: THE ESSENTIAL COLLECTION
    Gennaio 2009


    For close to two decades, it was the signature event – first in NWA, then WCW. Some of the greatest Superstars in wrestling history had defining moments at Starrcade. It may be gone, but fans of sports entertainment continue to celebrate its rich tradition and lasting legacy. Now, for the first time on DVD, the greatest matches of Starrcade are collected in a 3-disc set, along with a new and exclusive documentary exploring the 18-year history of the event, including comments from Ric Falir, Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA, Road Warrior Animal, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, David Crockett, and others. The featured matches, as voted by the WWE Universe, are counted down by some of the key players from the time.

    diciamo che si poteva fare di +,ma già il fatto che la wwe produca finalmente qualcosa sulla WCW è già qualcosa!

    (nn c'è Liger vs Pillman... mah.. però forse a starrcade nn l'hanno mai fatto)

    questo lo pèotevano evitare visto che giàà l'avevano messo nel dvd dei ladder match:

    Questo è un cofanetto da sogno, niente da dire!!! [SM=x54480]

    Da tempo mi chiedo come mai la WWE si sia limitata a riportare in vita The Great American Bash e non abbia invece sfruttato Starrcade, un evento storico nato nel 1983 (quindi due anni prima di WrestleMania) e che per la WCW era l'equivalente di WWE WrestleMania e TNA Bound for Glory... in una WWE che cerca sempre di esagerare(arrivando addirittura a proporre tre "show" inediti alla settimana, ognuno con il proprio "roster"...), mi pare strano che abbiano rinunciato a rispolverare questo grande classico del passato... in fondo se il "pay per view" di dicembre si chiamasse Starrcade anzichè Armageddon sarebbe più affascinante, soprattutto se venisse infarcito con immagini e richiami storici... [SM=x54477]

    Gli incontri contenuti in questi DVD sono fantastici, così come i protagonisti... Ric Flair, Sting, Hulk Hogan, Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes, Goldberg, Steve Austin, Jushin "Thunder" Liger, Lex Luger, i Rock'N'Roll Express, i Road Warriors, Big Van Vader, Harley Race, Roddy Piper... qui si respira la storia del wrestling!!! [SM=x54480]

    Per tutti i palati sopraffini e per coloro che amano la storia di questo "sport", questo cofanetto è da non perdere per nessuna ragione al mondo!!! [SM=x54502]

    Comunque su Wikipedia, nella pagina dedicata alla WCW, è presente una notizia quanto meno curiosa:

    ...In 2004, the WWE brought back the The Great American Bash pay-per-view. In 2009, WWE is going to bring back 2 not yet specified pay-per-views of WCW. There are talks about a WCW One Night Stand-like pay-per-view and Starrcade replacing Armageddon, but Vince and his (kayfabe) "team" are still speculating.

    Vince McMahon has been debating the possibility in 2009 if they would come out with a WCW One Night Stand and a couple of months later bringing Back WCW StarrCade that will replace WWE Armageddon. And then possibly bring it back WCW full time like they did with ECW. But most likely they will bring it back in the Summer of 2009 with Shane McMahon as the General Manager, Because when WCW went out of buisness Shane was The Owner not Ted Turner. Ted Turner sold WCW to Eric Bischoff in late 2000. Then Bischoff could not Afford it so he sold it to Shane...



    Sinceramente non sono in grado di valutare l'attendibilità di questa notizia (che sembra tanto una bufala...), ma pare che la WWE nel 2009 avrebbe in programma prima di produrre due "pay per view" dedicati alla WCW (WCW One Night Stand e WCW Starrcade che prenderebbe il posto di WWE Armageddon) e poi di riportare in vita la WCW come "brand", con Shane McMahon nei panni del "general manager"... ma io non ci credo fino a che non lo vedo... :P

    Ciò che mi fa storcere il naso in merito a questa notizia è sostanzialmente la mancanza tra i fan di uno zoccolo duro di nostalgici WCW, oltre comunque alla difficoltà nel reperire i personaggi chiave per poter mettere in piedi un One Night Stand.
    Non so quanto forte possa ancora essere il richiamo WCW e quanto la WWE sia intenzionata a riesumare la federazione che ha ormai sconfitto da tempo, certo però che il fan casuale sentendo "è rinata la WCW" farebbe schizzare i ratings alle stelle.

    Secondo me l'occasione migliore sarebbe stata portare avanti il progetto originale, ovvero mantenere in vita Nitro (poi convertito in Smackdown).

    Si inizialmente si poteva fare portando avanti la storyline del 2001 e non unificando neanche i titoli come poi fatto a Vengeance...ora come ora mi pare una enorme cazzata. Poi fare una One Night Stand WCW? Dovresti chiamare Sting (Sting che lavora per la WWE???), Hogan, Flair (anche se non per lottare visto che è stato costretto al ritiro da Michaels) come minimo più altri lottatori (o ex) che per un motivo o per l'altro (motivi di salute, lottano per la concorrenza o sono in cattivi rapporti con i McMahon) non credo siano disponibili tipo Nash, Hall, Sid, Randy Savage, Luger (addirittura mi pare che sia costretto su una sedia a rotelle...), Vader e altri...a si anche Goldberg vabbè...
    O a meno che questa rimpatriata non sia solo per Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero e qualche altro original (o con un passato) WCW di minor importanza che lotta in WWE (ma chi comprerebbe un PPV del genere?)

    Secondo me è troppo tardi...
    E poi, "quelli grossi" dell'ex WCW ormai son alla concorrenza: al reality di Hogan e soprattutto, alla TNA.
    L'eredità che la WWE porta ancora in dote, della fallità Invasion, è sicuramente il titolo mondiale che RAW ha attualmente ed infine Smackdown!..
    nient'altro..
    Gli ultimi rimasti in WWE dell'allora WCW adesso chi sono: Regal, Finlay,Chavo e Helms..il resto tutti licenziati..(Fatemi il favore di non citare lo stint di HHH alla WCW)..

    Avrei preferito un dvd che trattasse sulla storia a 360° sulla WCW anche se questo su Starrcade è sicuramente molto interessante leggendo i contenuti.

    Si infatti era meglio un dvd stile rise and fall of ecw per la WCW....però anche questo sembra interessante.

    Lo stanno trasmettendo pari pari su WWE 24/7, almeno in America, ma credo arriverà anche da noi.

    Cmq mi spiegate cosa intendete con "Nitro è stato convertito in Smackdown"? O "Smackdown è uno degli ultimi residui dell'eredità WCW" quando SD! è stato creato nel '99, ben prima che Nitro chiudesse i battenti?
